MEET THE TEAM
Debra Carter Peele
Originally from Dunn/Fayetteville, North Carolina, Debra Carter Peele’s journey of faith and
music is a powerful testimony of redemption and obedience to God’s calling.
Debra accepted the Lord at a young age but later drifted away, pursuing a path in secular music.
Despite feeling the Lord’s call to use her voice for His glory, she resisted, doubting her ability
since she couldn’t read music or sing harmony.
In May 2006, a car accident left Debra without hearing, making her believe her singing days
were over. However, on January 19, 2009, in her bedroom in Rock Hill, South Carolina, she fully
surrendered her life to Jesus. Acting in obedience, she met with her sisters, Carol and Gayle, and
together they formed The Promise Trio—later known simply as THE PROMISE—dedicating
their voices to sharing the Gospel through music.
For seven years, Debra sang without hearing, trusting God with every note. Then, in 2017,
during a Promise service, her hearing was miraculously restored after a member of the
congregation prayed over her. This incredible moment reaffirmed her faith and strengthened her
commitment to ministry.
Today, Debra and THE PROMISE sing to an audience of one—Jesus Christ—with the heartfelt
mission of sharing His love and presence through music and testimony. Time and again,
audiences express how they can feel the presence of the Lord when they sing, which remains
their greatest blessing.
Now residing in Nashville, Tennessee, Debra is married to Randy Peele. They have three
children—Aaron, Brad, and Blair—a daughter-in-law, Heather, and two beloved grandchildren,
Haylee and Kinsley. Proud of her Lumbee Native American heritage, Debra shares a unique part
of her testimony about growing up with light eyes and blonde hair while embracing her Native
roots. Her father, a former Native American Chief, was a founding member of the Cumberland
County Indian Association in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
Through every challenge and triumph, Debra’s story is a testament to God’s faithfulness, proving
that He can use anyone willing to say yes to His call.

Summer Young
Summer Young is from San Antonio, Texas but has resided in the Nashville, TN area the last ten years. She is thirty-five years old and married to her high school sweetheart. Together they have been blessed with three sons, Xander, Caden and Liam. Summer faced many challenges growing up which lead her down worldly roads but the seed of Jesus was planted in her heart at a young age. She saw how the Lord kept meeting her in the dark and difficult times in her life. He always drew her back to His light. A major call from the Lord came in the form of an opportunity for her husband and her to move to Tennessee to be a part in the building of a new church and ministry. They knew this was God speaking so they were obedient in the move. Ten years ago they said goodbye to everything and everyone familiar, took a giant leap of faith and moved to Tennessee. Summer fully surrendered her life over to Jesus while serving in this ministry. Even though she did not grow up singing in church, she could not stop the worship within her heart from bursting forth. Despite this, she deeply struggled with the fear of singing in front of people. But she could feel the Lord pulling her into this calling so she auditioned for her church’s worship team. She has been singing on the frontline of her church’s worship team for the past ten years where she has seen God move mightily for many but also for her personally. She has been a witness to several miracles and for this, she is honored to be used as a vessel for the Kingdom of God.
